2024年3月まで留学生受け入れ事業の一環である人材育成奨学計画（JDS）の下、帯広畜産大学大学院に留学していたミャンマーのスーさんからのメッセージが届きました！
We have received a message from Ms. Hsu, a Myanmar ex-participant of JDS (The Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship) who had studied at Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine until March 2024. (The original English text follows Japanese one.)

2022年3月、帯広畜産大学大学院畜産学研究科修士課程で学ぶために来日したことは、私の人生で最もエキサイティングな瞬間の一つとなりました。母国で講師をしていた私にとって、日本で教育を受ける貴重な機会であり、私の希望と完全に一致するものでした。
日本での研究は学問的な厳しさと日本文化体感が融合されたものであり、私にとって非常に魅力的でした。JICAの支援により、この経験を通じて、トップクラスの教育とリソースに出会うことができ、私の教育力と研究力を大幅に向上させることができました。
帯広での生活は特に特別なものでした。冬は雪に覆われた山々、夏は鮮やかな花畑など、この地域の素晴らしい自然景観は、研究を進めるにおいても癒しとなりました。新鮮な魚介類や乳製品で知られるこの地域の特産物を味わうこともでき、ここでの日常生活は便利で豊かなものでした。北海道のライフスタイルは伝統的なものも融合されており、日本の文化的多様性に対する理解が深まりました。また、日本語を学ぶことは、地域社会に溶け込み、日々の生活を豊かにする上で非常に役立ちました。
帯広畜産大学のアカデミックな環境を特徴づけているものは、研究とイノベーションに重点を置いていることです。最先端の設備を利用できるため、実社会で応用可能な共同プロジェクトに取り組むことが奨励されています。グループワークや問題解決を重視する姿勢は、日本の文化的価値観である「和」を反映しており、私は今後も教育に活かしていきたいと考えています。
全体として、日本での経験は教育的であり、変容をもたらすものでした。JICAの支援と、教授、コーディネーター、友人たちにあたたかく励まされ、私は世界で最も魅力的な地域のひとつである日本について深く理解し、未来に向けてよりよい準備ができました。

I arrived in Japan to study the Master’s Program in Animal Science at Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine in March 2022, marking one of the most exciting moments of my life. As a lecturer in my home country, receiving a JICA scholarship provided me with an invaluable opportunity to advance my education in Japan, perfectly aligning with my professional aspirations.

Studying in Japan offers a unique blend of academic rigour and cultural immersion, which has deeply appealed to me. Supported by JICA, this journey has given me access to top-tier education and resources that will significantly enhance my teaching and research.

Living in Obihiro, Hokkaido has been particularly special. The region’s stunning natural landscapes, from snow-covered mountains in winter to vibrant flower fields in summer, offer a serene backdrop to my studies. From savoring the region's exquisite cuisine, known for its fresh seafood and dairy products, daily life here is both convenient and enriching. Hokkaido’s blend of traditional and modern lifestyles has deepened my understanding of Japan’s cultural diversity. Learning Japanese has also been invaluable in helping me integrate into the community and enrich my daily life.

A strong focus on research and innovation characterizes the academic environment at Obihiro University. With access to state-of-the-art facilities, I’m encouraged to engage in collaborative projects with real-world applications. This emphasis on group work and problem-solving reflects the Japanese cultural value of harmony, something I can bring back to my teaching.

Overall, my experience in Japan has been both educational and transformative. Thanks to the support of JICA and the welcoming attitude of my professors, coordinators, and friends, I am now better prepared for a globalized future, equipped with a deep understanding of one of the world’s most fascinating regions.
