この書籍には、編者の一人として加藤宏JICA研究所所長が参加したほか、須藤智徳研究所主任研究員が気候変動に関する章を執筆しています。また、牧野耕司ガーナ事務所所長、室谷龍太郎ルワンダ事務所所員、瀧澤郁雄人間開発部課長、吉澤啓アフリカ部企画役などがBox記事や知見の提供を行いました。

2050年に向けてアフリカは、人口の増大と都市化の加速化に直面する見通しです。それ故、余剰労働力を吸収し得るだけの職を継続的に創出していくことが経済・社会秩序の安定に不可欠な要素となり得ます。現在の化石燃料・鉱物資源に依存するアフリカ経済の構造は、資本集約的であるため、多くの職の創出は見込めません。経済構造の転換はアフリカが持続的に成長を続ける上で重要な課題となる見通しであり、民間セクターの役割が期待される分野でもあります。各国は経済構造をより持続的なものへ転換する一方、民間セクターが活躍できる市場・投資環境の整備を行い、教育・保健サービスの拡充を通じた人的資本の形成も計画的に行うことが期待されます。
